Have you heard of the mystery of the sailing stones? It’s not a Hardy Boys novel — it’s the strange phenomenon of rocks leaving zig-zagging tracks across Death Valley.

Every fucking one of these idiotic misogynist shitstorms is less coherent and more paranoid than the last.
Pretty soon they’ll be telling each other to wear tinfoil hats to stop feminist mindcontrol rays and to watch out for Swiss cheese-type ICE CUBES that evaporate into POISON NERVE GAS SMOKE.
(if you get the references to a certain historical wacko i made, good job)
All my hopes and dreams have been realized.
Everyone who reblogs will get skeletons in their inbox.
Childish nerds do it regardless of what group they’re part of.
Let’s just focus on gamers since childish nerds are a majority there.
Also this is fucking bullshit. 100% bullshit. Ask any big time game developer. ANY OF THEM. Forget even social issues! A COD dev will change the firing speed of a sniper rifle and GET DEATH THREATS. This is not a theoretical, THIS HAPPENED.
Gamers don’t just send death threats to women, they send them to fucking everyone because they’re little pissbabies.
This right here.
OH YEAH ALSO IF YOU THROW THEM TOO MUCH IN A FIGHTING GAME MATCH: DEATH THREAT.
They keep jumping into you and you Shoryuken them every fucking time?
Hope relena doesn’t interfere this time
AM I HJUST THAT DUMB OR ?????????????????????? I JUST WENT ON LIKE 14 WEBSITES AND ALL THEIR KIRA TIES COST 400$

Hi, sorry if this has already been explained to you~
The original, “official” Yoshikage Kira tie was created by the Japanese fashion brand Ultra. Here’s a link to where you can see the original listing. It retailed for a little over $100 and was made of 100% silk, like many high-end ties. It was also released in very limited quantities… back in 2008.
Because of the materials and the extremely limited nature of the tie (especially for anyone outside of Japan) the price skyrocketed. There was someone on ebay selling replicas for only $60 a while ago, but they seem to have disappeared, as I can’t find the item anymore.
Hope this helped you to understand the reason for the price! I don’t like it, myself, as I’d love to have the tie for my collection, but am not willing to spend that much money on it haha…
To clarify a bit, there were actually three releases. The link shown was for the first and second release, which I actually bought when it came out. There was a third release in 2012 which was more expensive but was also done with a different and fancier weave.
Also these are particularly hard to get on the aftermarket outside Japan because Ultra Brand went above and beyond to try and keep people outside Japan from ordering these (I’m assuming for license reasons). They not only don’t ship to non-Japanese addresses, but don’t accept credit cards whose billing address is outside Japan.
If there’s ever a fourth release, expect a bloodbath with the shopping services. The purple color has sold out within 24 hours all three times.
kayinnasaki I know you were wondering why that damn thing costs so much
The Final Fantasy 14 community is amazing.
Pine-Pine appreciation post
I need to catch up with Space Dandy
I saw geardrops post this on twitter and it’s blowing my mind. Basically making contact with a laptop (even with your bare hands) and measuring the voltage changes and using those changes to figure out the encryption keys of an encrypted device like this is some crazy sci fi bullshit
Side channel shit be crazy, yo. “Side channel” is crypto-speak for attacking a system by examining the elements by which it’s implemented, generally the physical hardware (and the limitations thereof) it’s being run on. The simple end of it is stuff like “We know it takes n picoseconds to check each letter in a password, so we feed it a password, and if it takes 3*n to tell us it’s wrong, we know the first two characters are right, and try a different third letter until it takes 4*n to spit us back out again.” The more complex stuff gets into watching voltages, current draw, EM radiation, sounds made by different keys on a keyboard. This is a lovely example of how far we have to go to examine our systems to truly protect ourselves.
When I first read about Van Eck phreaking (basically you point an antenna at a monitor and by analyzing the changesthe electromagnetic radiation it puts off you can reconstruct the image it is showing) it was in some sci-fi short story and I thought it was made up
